The Clinton and Obama campaigns should take a step back, and look forward.
22 Republican Senate seats are in play. Opportunities abound to increase the number of House seats occupied by Democrats after the next election.
The president and the vice president, and several of their current and former subordinates have committed numerous CRIMES, some of which carry the death penalty.
The policies of the current administration have created disasterous structural problems that will seriously harm our economy, and our entire social structure for at least a decade.
For all of the problems created by Bush & company, there are reasonable practical solutions, and the Democrats have those solutions.
Please circulate the following strategy.
The remainder of the primary season should not be a contest between Obama and Clinton, but a preview of how the two candidates will campaign against McCain. Let the candidates compete with one another by showing how they will campaign against the Republicans.
Let them try to out-do each other in attacking the Republican Party and it's nominee.
Either one of the Democratic candidates will SLAM the Republicans across the board, on every issue, on substance as well as style. Start NOW.
There's no need to distinguish the candidates from one another on Democratic "credentials" or policy. That information is known to the public.
What the public needs to know now, is what is at stake in the election in November. The public needs to know who will be the fighter who will face down the Republican Party, and how they will do it. Let the remaining primaries be about who will best make the case for the change of parties in the White House.
The case for impeachment of Bush and Cheney should be part of the basis of the attacks against the Republicans. "We don't have the votes for impeachment" needs to be a campaign issue. The crimes of the president and the vice president are going unpunished because the Republicans are protecting a criminal presidency.
The public needs an explanation of The Crime Against Peace. The public needs an explanation of the HOAX that was perpetrated against the Congress, the people, and the nations of the world for the purpose of initiating an imperialist war for PLUNDER.
The public needs an explanation of the $40 million dollar payment to Osama Bin Laden in April 2001, and the subsequent crime, on 9/11, that the $40 million dollars PAID FOR.
The public needs an explanation of the protection racket that has robbed them of more than a trillion dollars, and the fraud that has been perpetrated by the Bush Administration in asserting that all of that money was necessary to fight a tiny number of thugs hiding out in caves.
The public needs an explanation of the treasonous attacks on the republic, including election theft, rule by decree (signing statements), malicious politically motivated prosecutions, illegal detention policies, illegal use of paramilitary organizations, damaging national security with political retaliation against whistleblowers (Plame, Edmonds), and conducting military operations against the American public (spying, psyops, black propaganda, and mass arrests).
The public needs an explanation of the crimes committed to cover other crimes, such as defrauding the Supreme Court with phony "legislative intent" inserted into the Senate record after the DTA vote, for the purpose of "legitimizing" illegal detention policies before the court in the Hamdan case.
The public needs an explanation of the bribery scandals, including Cheney's "deferred compensation" from Halliburton, for which that company received war-profiteering contracts, and even a contract to build a concentration camp on American soil, and including bribes to cover-up the nuclear black market racketeering by members of the Bush Administration.
The public should be reminded that the disasterous state of the economy was created by fully implementing the "supply side" tax policies and the corporate-backed global imperialist trade policies, and that the Republican Party favors continuing and expanding these policies.
Finally, the LIES. The Democrats can pick a "lie of the week" and remind the public how often the Republican Party organized a systematic attempt to deceive the public on a wide range of policy questions.
This is where the emphasis should be for the Democratic Party until November. The candidates, Obama and Clinton, are nearly tied for the nomination, and there aren't enough contests left to decisively settle the nomination. Dirty campaigning isn't going to help Democrats. Wanna go negative? Go negative on the Republicans. They deserve it.
