I am sick and tired of hearing of
Troll Wars, and Troll War diaries. But I also understand Kos's frustration and revoking of TU status for many readers. So I have thought long and hard, and think DailyKos would be improved greatly if Kos would do the following.
1) Add a "BOO" button labeled "DISAGREE" in between "Recommend" and "Troll".
The reason People
Troll rate many comments is they DISAGREE with a comment strongly and want to express this fact. Even though they know troll ratings are for DISRUPTIVE behavior they feel they have no other way to express this point. Posting a response alone doesn't cut it. So why not add a
DISAGREE button?
2) Make it easier to get to learn how to add graphics, hyper text, ect.
Many people don't know how to code so often don't provide links, or add the whole

I would add a easy tool `plainer directly under
search button on the upper right hand corner. It would explain how hyper link, add graphics, and no more than 10 other commonly used functions. It would greatly improve diaries.
3) Add a best comments ranking
Who got the highest rated comment? This is something for
Jotter to think about. It would be a good clue as to whom people trust, when they give their opinion. It would give an idea on whom would make good judges on issue, if a case ever arose where we needed one. It may surprise some people that the KosGods on the front page may or may not be the most respected voices on the site? Are they? I have no idea.
This would also be a good indicator on who should get TU (trusted user) status, or MTU (most trusted user status).
4) Add a "REPETITION" BUTTON or get Repetition monitors.
Often when a big story breaks there will be 3-4 diaries that all come out on it back to back. This often pushes back diaries on other subjects. If they add something new to the subject fine, but they mostly don't I have been guilty of this once or twice in my Kos lifetime, but I will usually delete the diary myself if I see I have done this. Other will not, maybe it's because its their first very highly recommended or responded too diary. I would either.
a) Let people give the diaries a repetition ranking. If someone gets lets say 20 repetition rankings, the diary would be pulled. Let readers decide.
Or
b) anoint repetition monitors. These would function the way discussion monitors did in the old chat room days. They would be people voted on my Kos members in quarterly elections. They would have designated times to monitor the site. They would be able to remove repetitive diaries, if they don't add anything new to the subject.
These are just some of my ideas. What do you think?
