These are a bunch of dangerous idiots. Should they be entrusted with our national security?
As I count it up, there are at least four incidents of serious bungling, if not outright sabotage, of national security matters. Lemme know if I got them right, and if I missed any.
Before getting to the list under the fold, let me suggest that the Plame meme needs to have both "treason" and "national security" in it. Something like "treasonous breach of national security."
- Plame, of course. Untold damage to our intelligence gathering efforts, not only in the loss of Plame, her cover company and possibly assets whose covers have been blown by association, but also our ability to recruit for a long time to come.
- Blowing the identity of the Al Qaida operative the British had caught and flipped, thus seriously hindering a promising effort to track down and catch terrorist cells in London. May be directly responsible for the terrorists' ecent successful attack in London.
- Counting Judy Miller as part of the cabal, there's the time she tipped a terrorist group to an upcoming FBI raid.
- Finally (just caught this out the corner of my eye, and apologies for not trying harder to research it), there's some story about a Seattle-based terrorist investigation that the Admin scotched.
