WINDSOR - Local voters returned a Democrat to the vacant 15th House District seat on Tuesday, electing Bloomfield’s David Baram to the position opened by the January death of Rep. Faith P. McMahon, D-Bloomfield. Baram, a lawyer, served as mayor of Bloomfield and is past director of the Capitol Region Council of Governments. He chairs Bloomfield’s Democratic Town Committee.
He secured the vote during the special election Tuesday, topping Bloomfield Republican Joseph Merritt and write-in candidate Devaughn Ward. The district encompasses parts of Bloomfield and Windsor. Unofficial results from both towns put Baram 475 votes over Merritt, 1,513 to 1,038. Ward earned 166 votes.
