The Young Republicans National Federation elected Audra Shay as their new chairman. For those of you who may be unaware Ms. Audra Shay had a little problem that was exposed in the runup to this election.
It all began with one of her "friends" writing on her Facebook page
"Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist... Muslim is on there side [sic]... need to take this country back from all of these mad coons... and illegals,"
Which the new chairman of the Young Republicans National Federation replied,
"You tell em Eric! lol."
Later, two of her other "friends" from Facebook complained about the use of racist language. Her response was to "defriend" those who compalined of racist language.
Later it was found that Audra had written the following on her Facebook page as well.
"What no ‘Obama in a noose? Come on now, its just freedome [sic] of speech, no one in Atlanta would take that wrong! Lol."
and
"Apparently I could not spell last night. I am wondering if the guys with the Palin noose would care if we had a bunch of homosexuals in a noose."
Her obvious inability to spell properly and use of racist language did not preclude the Young Republicans National Federation delegates from electing her. In fact, it appears they rallied behind her as Audra has claimed in the days leading up to today's election
"proves that my opponents will stoop to the lowest levels to steal this election from the jaws of victory."
It amazes me the lack of compassion for others amongst many republicans, but it astonishes me that they continue to elect leaders within their party that not only lack compassion, but overtly use words of prejudice.
