Wingnut radio host Brian Wilson of Clear Channel's WSPD conservative talk radio station in Toledo, OH, gave the home phone number of Democratic mayoral candidate Ben Konop out over the air during a rant against him. Konop subsequently received numerous death threats and was confronted by a WSPD listener with a hunting knife.
When asked about his behavior, the radio host said: "If Baby Ben Konop is wetting his pants over alleged death threats, he may consider changing his phone number."
WTOL TV: ...A WSPD reporter said Konop wasn't running a transparent campaign as he won't return the station's phone calls or send them press releases...During the press conference, Konop responded saying the station's viewpoints are extreme and right-winged.
WSPD's Brian Wilson decided to broadcast Konop's personal cell phone number. He says it's perfectly legitimate as Konop is a public official and he should be accessible to the public.
Konop says he received nearly ten threats from anonymous callers and, for example, one even said he would stomp on him.
The county called the sheriff for security and WSPD is taking no responsibility. "If Baby Ben Konop is wetting his pants over alleged death threats, he may consider changing his phone number," says Wilson.
Konop says he doesn't want to change his phone number because he thinks it gives into the hatred.
This is more evidence of unchecked hate speech and encouragement of violence against Democrats. Where's the FCC?
