Here's the wild question I just spontaneously asked myself, without any premeditation, after reading a bunch of diaries here on Kos:
"If Howard Dean ran against Barack Obama in a Democratic primary in 2012, which one would I vote for?"
Gulp.
Comments and poll after the jump...
I emphatically want to say that this is a purely hypothetical thought experiment. It ain't gonna happen. Yet the question did bring me up short. (Note that I was high on Dean in 2004, and high on Obama in 2008. Now I may just be... high.)
Seriously, though: Today I can't help asking myself, which Democrat more accurately reflects my views? Who, at this point, could I more readily rely upon to do the right thing on any given issue, whether health care, or the environment, or holding Bush officials accountable for torture, or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, or the economy?
Again, I ask this question only as a way of teasing out the question of what we really want as progressives. Knowing that Obama will be the nominee in 2012, if you are closer to Dean's position, what do we at the netroots do to push the Democrats in the right (left) direction?
Now let's hear your votes.
