Any of you who live in Mass...could you try to describe the mood there, in the week before the next constitutional convention?
What deeply concerns me is that an anti-gay candidate won, and he did so by pushing the same insincere and self-righteous "tolerance" pap that he and his brethren never, ever put into practice. Has that shaken up anti-amendment legislators, or Democrats in general? Do you think this means there's a good chance Democrats will suffer big losses in November? Or, as some have said, was he the best candidate that the Mass. Republicans had? Do they have enough money and influence to make even pathetic candidates seem worthwhile (if they vote on the "let the people vote" meme)?
Is the Brown victory seen as a big referendum on anti-gay marriage and a boost for Romney?
Does anyone know if Finneran actually intends to allow civil unions if the amendment passes next week, or is he just going to keep muddying the waters and then make sure gay couples get jack shit? There isn't any way that he or Romney can put a stop to the weddings starting in May, can they? I keep thinking that they can, and will.
