And the beat goes on...
I love how Kos can bring people together and how communities are built on ideas and a whole lot of internet-sweat. So I'm excited to be a part of this 'thon to introduce you all to a brand spankin new radio for us, by us and about us.
Shouting out from San Diego to the rest of the Nation Daily from 3pm to 6pm PDT is
TRUE BLUE RADIO
Be a part of the start of something big...
Yup.
Main stream media has become a series of squeals, pops and bankruptcy ads. This station will give us a real chance to tune into the issues relevant to us and give us the information we want and need to keep that "Hope" from turning into "Nope" (Thx Ozzie)
Tune in and join a real Progressive line up of talent, with new ones on the way!
What I've heard of the line up so far is pretty stunning...Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Jon Elliott, Ed Schultz.
Smart sassy voices all.
Also, we will have a chance to chat with Jon live on Kos this THURSDAY at 11pm PDT (that's 2pm EDT) he'll be logged in as our buddy Jill Richardson, so make sure you keep an eyeball out for that diary and find out why "This is America with Jon Elliott" ranks in the top 10 progressive radio talk shows in the country.
And a little about Jon...
Passionate about the principles for all Americans espoused by the Democratic Party, he reasoned radio would give him the platform to provide an alternative message to the American people who were being exposed only to an overflow of conservative news and viewpoints.
Right on.
With your support of just 10 bucks a month, we can take the Progressive message even further and spread a little sanity past Hannity and give the Bum's-Rush to Rush.
Our goal is 200 subscribers. Easy-peasy guys. It's TRUE BLUE Democracy in ACTION!
(keep checkin in for updates here or within this diary series)
Tune in 3pm to 6pm PDT on www.jontalk.com or on San Diego's 1700 AM. We already have a fan in Renaissance radio/blogger Howie Klienwho laid out the goal of this station.
The plan was to make a station with a strong signal that could be heard all over San Diego and to make sure that liberals controlled it so that a conservative company like Clear Channel couldn't pull the plug on it if it was helping liberals win elections. It took Jon Elliott about 18 months to put all of the plans in place, but he's done it. And it's not just a station for San Diego. The first station will be here in San Diego on 1700 AM but the goal is to have 30 stations by 2014.
I've been in independent radio for about 15 yrs and this idea warms my heart.
My first station we called "The Farm"
It was in a trailer on a tract of 10 acres and about 10 miles out of the town of Lincoln, NE.
You had to be careful where you parked. Sometimes you had to chase cows away from your car in the morning.
(sigh)
Give a little to support independent voices and put logic and love back on the frequency bands of American discourse.
