By now, I'm sure many people here have read about and seen the footage of anti-health reform protester William Kostric, gun in holster, holding a sign that reads "It's time to water the tree of liberty," a reference to the Thomas Jefferson quote, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
Obviously, having a gun anywhere near where the President will be making a public appearance, especially in this climate, is worrisome, but something else has caught my attention.
Someone else pointed this out on another forum. If you watch the video, you can clearly see something in his right ear, between 0:55 and 1:00:
A clear plastic, one-sided earpiece, with a coiled cord going down the back of his shirt. This is the kind of headpiece usually reserved for security and the like. So why does this guy have one?
After watching his interview with Chris Matthews, the guy seems like a typical anti-gov right winger, not necessarily harmless, but also not a genius.
^^^This is the time when he should have an earpiece in, and he does. But his use of the earpiece before being on TV seems strange. Who was he communicating with? Did this have anything with his constant surveillance by the police earlier today? They had to have known he was wearing that thing...right?
EDIT: Let me be clear: I have no idea why he had on the earpiece at that point, nor am I suggesting I have a theory as to why. I'm just pointing it out, and there could be a completely good explanation for it.
Some of the comments being left suggest that some of you didn't watch the clip I posted. The shot of him with the earpiece was from earlier in the day, HOURS before he got the Hardball interview. As far as we know, he was not being interviewed at that point, especially from a remote studio. besides, why would a random protester be talking to someone in a remote studio without an actual on-site reporter there with him? Yes it's true, he could have been being interview by another station, but who? And where was his microphone? He was supposedly under police surveillance for the entire time that the President was there.
