Update [2005-4-3 9:22:48 by am]: Poughkeepsie Journal changes their URLs on there stories. Nice huh? So here are the links for
yesterday's story, and a new link for
today's story.
This is an update on Joe's original diary at:
Social Security Censorship at FDR Library.
Update: This is over, will post results when I find them! The Poughkeepsie Journal has an article today and sponsoring a phone survey.
Please recommend this diary at least for today so we can get folks to call the Poughkeepsie Journal's phone survey... See Below!
Here's the follow up: The article today in the Poughkeepsie Journal reported that Reps. Sweeney and Kelly had been invited in addition to Hinchey, but that Sweeney's and Kelly's office
hadn't even responded!
FDR site rejects Social Security forum where they correctly state (unlike the
Newsday's article--which claims they
declined.)
From the Poughkeepsie Journal:
The organizers also invited U.S. Reps. Sue Kelly, R-Katonah, and John Sweeney, R-Clifton Park, but have not received replies. A Kelly spokesman said Friday the congresswoman's schedule for that day has not been set. Sweeney's office did not return a call Friday.
Cynthia Koch, director of the library, said she recently consulted the general counsel's office at the National Archives and Records Administration, which oversees the site. The forum, as planned, would violate federal laws barring partisan activities on federal property, she said.
The Journal is taking a phone poll and survey on this issue (I don't think this is in the on-line so I'm transcribing)Update [2005-4-2 13:39:21 by am]: The answer is NO:
Today's question Should the forum on Social Security have been moved from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum?
