There has been plenty of talk about the continued and increasing inequality of wealth distribution in the United States. A recent study indicated the wealth inequality of the US was at its greatest since the Gilded Ages, after the Civil War from 1865 to 1901. Robber barron era (businessmen and bankers).
But take comfort, we're not alone. Heck, China has us beat with 1% of the population controlling 70% of its wealth.

The top 1% in the US only control about 35% of our wealth. But the top 20% in the US control 85% of the wealth, leaving the bottom 80% of our citizens with only their meager 15%. China can't top that, at least by much.
Actually studies indicate the top 2% of the worlds population controls 50% of all the wealth, and the richest 10% control 85% of the wealth.

The bottom half of the world, barely one percent. One fucking percent.
The United States has its own peculiar problems with wealth distribution and inequality. The privately owned Federal Reserve is the biggest, along with their major banking cabal. Then comes Wall Street and the legalized gambling they represent. Next up are the major corporations colluded with and controlled by the major banks.
According to Timothy Geithner, the publics best interest is served by our politicians not being able to set monetary policy, and that it should be left in the hands of private banks who will not disclose their major investors. According to Timmy, "auditing the Fed is a line we don't want to cross" Of course, Timmy doesn't explain why. He just assumes we'll continue to fall for the same old bullshit.

But it doesn't seem to matter what kind of system is used in any country, the end result is major income and wealth inequality.
"For the Love of Money is the root of all evil". 1 Timothy 6:10. I'm not sure that is totally correct. But it sure describes the majority of it. Personally, my major focus has been on antiwar efforts. However, the more I learn about the force of money being used to support war and killing, the more I think the major focus should be on just that, money. The just, equal, fair, and honest use of money. Wars are fought for wealth and power.
The money influence in the health insurance discussion surely is a clear view of the impact of money in politics. It is only logical to think that because of money, the top 1% to the top 20% have a significant advantage over the rest of citizens in getting what they want. Money talks, bullshit walks.
How can this problem be addressed? It's an age old problem that only continues to worsen. It's the old "Power to the People" problem. How do we really gain that power. I don't have the answers. I can only tell others what the problem is and hope enough of us get on the same page. Perhaps then the people will realize what we're fighting against.
