Outing secret agents in time of war is treason. This is punishable by death.
The execution of Bradley Manning should proceed forthwith ...
Or at least that's what election rigging loser and House Intelligence Committee member Mike Rogers would like us to do.
Election rigging? Well, it's not proven, but it sure is fishy that Kande Ngalamulume moved back home from his cushy insurance job, got on the ballot, then disappeared after it was too late for the party to replace him. The whole business has been covered here, starting with @Brianwrap and I did a pretty good roundup on the situation, complete with links to the coverage from others like @Karoli over at Crooks & Liars.
So, Mr. Intelligence Committee member would like Manning executed. That word can mean killing someone, typically with a judicial process behind it, but execution can also mean performing any sort of process, with the implication being that it's accomplished in an organized, professional fashion.
And in this usage I'd say Mike Rogers failed utterly to execute his duty in the oversight of the American intelligence community, as was revealed in the Washington Post's Top Secret America.
One could, in fact, argue that the abuses that young Manning saw and reported were directly the fault of the sloppy job Rogers and his cohorts did during the Bush years. The intel contractors, who exist not to execute (there's that word again!) American policy, but to profit their shareholders, would have no motive to see the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq through to the end. That's how we get civilians being executed (there it is again!) at random with gunships and drones, and our troops getting nailed in retaliatory IED attacks.
Oh, geez, how can we bring this up without talking about that turd in a human suit, Karl Rove? He outed Valerie Plame and the only one that got in trouble for it was Scooter Libby, and all he received was a slap on the wrist. Yeah, so the whole reason for our war in Iraq was false and they outed our anti-nuclear proliferation assets to clear the way.
So ... if we're really going to execute people for outing secret agents and endangering this country we ought to start with an investigation of the SOURCE of the problem and follow it through to the natural conclusion.
Fed up with these freaks? Removing Rogers is possible, but Lance Enderle's write in campaign is the only hope.
Nice Lance Enderle interview right there by @GottaLaff.
