For the last year, during this unending debate on HCR, conservatives, Teabaggers, and generally idiots who listen to terrestrial radio, have labeled President Obama as a "fascist". We all knew that they didn't know what they were talking about. Well, after years of voting for Republicans, right wingers can now reap what they have sown.
You all know about the Robert's Court decision. You all know what it means to our republic.
Now we can, without guilt, call every conservative a fascist. They bought it. They own it.
In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt:
The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism—ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.
Yep.
So, now we can call anyone who, in the last 20 years, that voted for a Republican a fascist. Without worrying about Godwin's Law
Godwin's Law is often cited in online discussions as a deterrent against the use of arguments in the widespread reductio ad Hitlerum form. The rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that the likelihood of such a reference or comparison arising increases as the discussion progresses. It is precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact.
I think we can safely throw this out of the proverbial window.
And believe me, we'd better. We're all quite familiar with the right wing's ability to project their failures on the left and if we don't set the debate in the days, months, and years to come, they will. They will make the case that it was under Obama's and the Democratic party's watch that this occurred.
So. The people that brought us this Supreme Court, the Robert's Court, Republicans, are all fascists now. We can say that with certitude. We can say it and not worry about anyone invoking Godwin's Law. Because until and unless conservatives come out forcefully against this decision, we call now rightfully call them all........... fascists.
Allow me to point out the 14 Defining Characteristics Of Fascism, pay particularly close attention to #'s 9 and 10:
- Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
- Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
Sorry, conservatives of america, it is what it is and you are what you are.
BTW, because of this decision I will now and forever refer to america with a lower case "a". It deserves no more.
