No not that kind, the kind that will have an effect on people other than myself. I made my first political donations today!!!
I have been wanting to make donations to several of the various candidates that are in tough races against bat-shit crazy Rs, but I've had to wait until I could make sure that my credit card bill was paid, which I just did.
I don't make much money ($18,425/year) because I am a graduate student, so I don't have much to give, but I donated $60 through the http://www.actblue.com/ page. As I said, I don't have much money, so I spread the money to several candidates like: Jack Conway, Scott McAdams, Alan Grayson, Russ Feingold, Joe Sestak, Manan Trivedi and Ann McLane Kuster. I gave until it hurt!!! But it hurts so good....
I know that there's been a lot of grumbling about the DSCC and the DNC and the DCCC and how they are supporting candidates that have been less than enthusiastic Democrats, but we can all support enthusiastic Democrats directly.
I am kind of a political junkie (thanks KOS for getting me addicted, grrrrrr) and now I spend hours reading about candidates and issues when I could instead be reading about stuff related to my thesis, but I digress. I hope that all of you fellow Kossacks who have the financial resources to do so have already helped support Democrats that you admire with direct support. If you haven't please do, take a lesson from me, if I can donate $$$ to elect Democrats on such a pitiful salary then I know that others can.
I lost my virginity today, and DAMN DOES IT FEEL GOOD!!!!
UPDATE
Just by looking at my super-scientific poll with the diary it looks like about 35% said that have not given money (most of those saying no seem pretty resolved to not liking the D's this year or ever) while 57% have given to the Democrats this year. What did surprise me is that no-one wished that they hadn't given what they did. I was kinda expecting at least a couple of people to say that they wish they hadn't donated $$$.
