First time diary.
Vigilance on election day is absolutely critical to the idea of democracy.
Many previous diaries on this site have told stories of voter suppression or worse vote alterations. At the same time we see how diaries such as "Tokyo Rose" speculate about the strategy of utilizing mass communication to demoralize Democrats into believing the foregone conclusion that the Republicans are going to win. The President Obama is skeptical about the veracity of published polling results. Some polls may be rigged predict that the Democrats decided not to vote. Financial resources are ready to produce the "desired" election results. Republican operatives appear to be well funded to communicate the narrative that the Democrats are "demoralized."
You might think that this whole crazy scheme can be defeated by "energizing" the Democrats into voting, but "energizing" may not be enough. Post election diaries from elections past have reported cases of major barriers to voting in polling places where Democrats vote. Suppressing votes may be a crime, but setting the expectation that Democrats are demoralized, the crime of suppression of Democratic votes can be "swept under the rug." ... Justice denied.
