We've seen a lot of talk about the massive documentation problems in mortgages, so much so that major banks could collapse due to a lack of clear claims on properties.
The lawyers are the only ones who win … and that means the politicians they purchase win, too.
Right at the top of the heap is Mike Rogers in Michigan 8. All we need is one lawyer's worth of donations for Lance Enderle in this closing two week period and we may be able to dislodge him, despite his massive cash advantage.
A single lawyer profiting from illegally booting people out of their homes can contribute $2,400 in the primary season, $2,400 in the general, and that's a whole year's mortgage payment including property taxes where I grew up. The average person just doesn't have $4,800 to throw around on political donations.
But the head of a law firm who exists to service the predatory lending industry and his homemaker wife can easily throw down $20,000 for the Michigan GOP and not miss it.
Here's a 2008 piece on these guys: Trott & Trott + Club For Growth Pulling Strings On Walberg. Club For Growth - that kook Toomey in the Pennsylvanian Senate race is the founder. I can't foresee anything but more bad policy for America with this bunch.
So these guys are in Michigan 8, they're tight with Mike Rogers, and we have a chance to dislodge the man thanks to anti-incumbent sentiment and a strong ground game by union workers there… but only if we can, as a community, roll just one lawyer's worth of cash for Lance Enderle.
There's a specific plan - a little radio, a newspaper ad, a few other small things like this. Beth says this one is hot, like right behind Grijalva in Arizona 7 hot in terms of unknown potential. I can't say what specifically is waiting in the wings here, but I gather it's a big deal. Maybe you should contact her if you want the detailed briefing ...
Lance got off to a late start due to some Alvin Greene grade antics and he's raised a grand total of $5,200 via Actblue. We have to take that number to $10,000 if we want the seat. Here's the link, you know what to do.
