We call the law that put people back to work and kept others on the job the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Watchdog, calls it the "failed stimulus" and he's enlisting our help to prove it.
Because I was one of the many progressives who sent flip suggestions to the pathetic America Speaking Out site to craft the Republican Pledge Plague to on America, Issa sent me an e-mail this morning mourning.
Help House Republicans Track Down Wasteful “Stimulus” Signs
Dear Friend,
For the last two years, you have been speaking out for a change of direction in Washington. House Republicans have listened to your calls for a more accountable federal government that doesn’t tolerate waste, fraud or abuse of your hard-earned money. Your participation in America Speaking Out was crucial to crafting the Pledge to America, which charts a conservative course back toward job growth, health care security and a balanced budget.
The biggest spending boondoggle was President Obama’s $862 billion failed “stimulus.” Signs of the failed "stimulus" are popping up by our highways, on government buildings and in national parks from coast to coast. Even though these billboards tout a program that has failed — as the signs promise — in “putting America back to work,” you are stuck paying for them at a cost of as much as $10,000 each.
But the Obama Administration either can't or won't tell you how much has been wasted on these propaganda signs and refuses to stop building them. That's why we need your help both tracking down these signs and holding the Administration accountable for its broken job creation promises: if you see a sign, take a picture and send it to us at stimulussigns@mail.house.gov. We will add your pictures to an interactive, sharable map showing that, even as the stimulus fails to create jobs, the Obama Administration continues to use your own money to try to convince you otherwise.
Sincerely,
Darrell Issa
GOP Watchdog
Let's be as creative in sending these job-killing Republicans our best photos of real Americans at work, or play, as we were with our suggestions for their phony Pledge.
