I know you're highly intelligent and you hope for consensus because some inner voice is telling you that people can be reasonable. I hate to have to inform you that you just are not listening.
When Mitch McConnell says:
"Over the past week, some have said it was indelicate of me to suggest that our top political priority over the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term in office,"
Its not politics; it's a declaration of overt hostilities.
You can hope for bipartisanship until the cows come home it is just not going to happen. You asked us to fight with you and to hold your feet to the fire, the problem is you refuse to listen. How often do we have to say, "They want to skin you alive"?
The more you give to them the more you lose us, and this can only end one way. Personally if I see you lose a battle; that doesn't worry me just as long as you stood up and fought for what you believe in right down the line. The sad thing is what you are doing makes us think that you just don't believe in what you say.
What do you believe in Mr President?
I hoped you were a fighter, perhaps that was delusion on my part. I always knew you were a centrist Democrat but I also thought I knew just where you would draw the line. I'm afraid I just don't know anymore, I cant understand how you can just throw down the towel each time. Do you actually believe in anything, is nothing worth drawing a line in the sand for?
The middle class are screaming for mercy, they are in deep trouble and this suits the GOP; their intent is to turn the screw until the middle class scream and vote you out. Cant you see this? Wage freezes are just a start, they wont be lauded by either side of the divide, you're on your own in this and that is your choice nobody forced you to start this battle.
Give way on the Bush tax heist, forget about DADT, dump the unemployed, and let them eat away at social security and your Presidency is only going one way, out through the back door. Again I repeat; I don't care if you lose so much as I care that you lost without a fight.
Soaring rhetoric is fine in its time and place, but sometimes stubbornness and bad temper have theirs; and you are facing adversaries that will not give an inch, so why concede before battle commences?
We made a choice, and all we ask is that win or lose that at least we can hold our heads up high and say we tried our utmost to do what is right.
At the moment it appears if we are waving a white flag as the enemy continues to tear us apart, the outcome can only go one way.
So Dear Mr President stand up and be counted, or you will surely go out with naught but a whimper.
Here is problem number !
