Wow, Del. "Sideshow Bob" Marshall (R-Manassas) is truly the gift (of "teh crazy") that keeps on giving.
State Delegate Bob Marshall (R) of Manassas says disabled children are God's punishment to women who have aborted their first pregnancy.
He made that statement Thursday at a press conference to oppose state funding for Planned Parenthood.
"The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children," said Marshall, a Republican.
"In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There's a special punishment Christians would suggest."
Crazy, yes, but just remember, this is the same guy who also said that:
*"[W]e have no business passing this garbage out and making these co-eds chemical Love Canals for these frat house playboys in Virginia." (with regard to contraception)
*"It is as much a chain as ankle bracelets were as to African-Americans in the 1860s in this state. It’s just invisible. But it is a chain of death that we’re not going to escape." (comparing the economic recovery package to slavery)
*"[S]ometimes incest is voluntary" ((talking about abortion in the case of incest)
*"[T]he woman becomes a sin-bearer of the crime, because the right of a child predominates over the embarrassment of the woman." (with regard to rape)
*"Suicidal deficits, enemies lists, abortion, euthanize seniors, health care that kills capitalism ... "Live and let die," Obama theme song!" (on Twitter)
Just another day in the life of the man we know (and love) as "Sideshow Bob!" :) Also, just another day in a wingnut world in which women have no rights, in which gays are treated as criminals, in which "death panels" are real and in which Barack Obama is a Muslim "socialist" trying to destroy America. No, we're not at the CPAC convention, we're in Manassas, Virginia, (mis)represented in Congress by Frank Wolf (R), currently obsessed with hunting Black Panthers, terrorists in "Somalia Land,", and attacking President Obama on the debt commission. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised that "Sideshow Bob" donated $1,000 to Frank Wolf. Apparently, they're birds of a feather...
P.S. You can help us defeat Frank Wolf by helping progressive Democrat Rich Anthony for Congress. As far as "Sideshow Bob" is concerned, the main thing we can do is expose him and demand that his fellow Republicans condemn his outrageous remarks.
UPDATE: JoeNBC tweets, "That legislator is God's curse to voters who elect stupid politicians."
UPDATE #2: "Sideshow Bob" is also leading the effort to protect Virginia from the horrors of socialized medicine. :)
UPDATE #3: More on/Moron "Sideshow Bob"'s mentality. He emailed me this on 11/9/08.
Sorry to disappoint your hopeful bloggers, but McCain received 50.04% (32,754) to Obama's 49.96% (32,701).
And that was with a more than a year long effort to find Obama voters in my district which now has more registered voters than some state Senate districts.
If anyone thinks I will sit still between now and next November, well, I started off as a democrat, and I haven't been in office since 1992 for nothing.
Secondly, congressional races are more appropriate measures of a district's state policy leanings for turnout purposes than the presidential race.
Fimian-Wolf received 24,915 votes to Feder-Conolley's 18,098 votes.
And without Mark Warner, Fimian would have received about 48%. Jerry is not safely in office for now.
Also, most minority Obama supporters favor my views on social issues like abortion and one man one woman marriage.
Delegate Bob Marshall
Whatever, dude. Also note, "Sideshow Bob" kept spelling Gerry Connolly's name wrong ("Jerry" "Conolley"). Not the brightest bulb, or at least not the best speller, on the block.
UPDATE #4: Sign the petition calling for a public apology here.
UPDATE #5: There's how audio, working on getting video...
UPDATE #6: Sorry, Bob, but justifying your remarks and claiming they were taken out of context is not an apology. Nice try, come again! :)
