Lindsey Graham is a Republican. He also generally conforms to Republican tactics (which in today's political climate usually means saying No and being a part of filibustering everything). However, homosexuality is something not embraced by the right or acknowledged as having a part in their politicians lives.
William Gheen, (head of Americans for Leagal Immigration PAC), recently went to a teabagger extravaganza gun-toting Obama bashing rally and addressed the angered crowd. He claimed that Lindsey Graham needed to "come out of that log-cabin of his" and reveal to the world that he is gay.
William Gheen, head of the conservative, anti-"amnesty," anti-illegal immigration group Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), spoke at a Greenville, S.C. Tea Party rally this weekend and called for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to "come out of that log cabin closet."
Clearly, homosexuality is incredibly relevant for .... the leader of an anti-illegal immigration group? I normally don't use this type of internet jargon... but WTF???
First off, who the hell even cares if Lindsey Graham is gay? Obviously the brainwashed impudent neo-conservative right does, but they are also the people who think that the country was founded as a Christian nation and we should all adhere to the beliefs of George W. Bush. Their credibility is lost.
Secondly, how is this relevant to a teabag rally? Shouldn't they be bitching about how they are taxed too much (or how they are receiving tax cuts that they choose to neglect mentioning). I guess that Gheen is either A: Stumping for some other candidate/trying to improve the popularity of his BS PAC, or B: He is considering a presidential run on the teabag ticket!!!! Either way, we can write this "Gheen" guy down on the list of fearmongers to ignore (the same list that contains people like Beck, Palin, etc.)
Third, Chances are Lindsey Graham isn't gay (although it doesn't matter to me, nor should it to anyone, if he were).
According to Gheen, being gay is "a secret that Lindsey Graham has."
Gheen told the crowd: "I hope this secret it isn't being used as leverage over Senator Graham, so today I think Senator Graham, you need to come forward and tell people about your alternative lifestyle and your homosexuality."
"Barney Frank is more honest and brave than you," Gheen continued, referring to the openly-gay Massachusetts congressman.
I guess Gheen could also be considering a run against Lindsey Graham, but spreading rhetoric such as this is surely not going to garner many votes.
Searching for some fame Gheen? Well congratulations, you've received it. You now have about as much credibility as British National Party leader Nick Griffin
Griffin is nearly spat on wherever he goes for his incredibly assholish and racist remarks and views. John Oliver, of The Daily Show, always has some interestingly colorful remarks about Nick Griffin and his incredibly awful view on the UK and its people.
Former CNN anchor and former ALIPAC partner Lou Dobbs is "calling for William Gheen to resign after his comments/actions on Sen. Lindsey Graham's sexuality" via Twitter.
Even Loud Dobbs denounced him and called for his resignation.... LOU DOBBS!!!
Look, I'm not exactly what you would call a LIndsey Graham fan. Do I agree with him on most issues? No. Do I think he is the nuttiest Republican in Congress? Not by a Looooooong shot. But seriously, this stuff is just a bit rediculous.
Gheen is trying to demoralize Graham, while at the same time putting down Gays and Lesbians everywhere. Gays and Lesbians have it hard enough in this world, and people like Gheen
