It will come as no surprise that the former half-term governor from Alaska is appalled that Franklin Graham was disinvited from speaking at the Pentagon's upcoming National Day of Prayer ceremony because of his blanket condemnation of Islam ... but for God's sake, could Palin at least be honest about her outrage?
Via The Plum Line:
In defending Graham, Palin claimed that Graham’s remarks were directed only at radical and violent Jihadists:
His comments in 2001 were aimed at those who are so radical that they would kill innocent people and subjugate women in the name of religion. Are we really so hyper-politically correct that we can’t abide a Christian minister who expresses his views on matters of faith? What a shame.
Actually, no, his comments weren’t aimed only at those radical enough to kill and subjugate women. They were directed at all of Islam. Here, according to the Charlotte Observer on November 19th, 2001, is what Graham said:
“We’re not attacking Islam but Islam has attacked us. The God of Islam is not the same God. He’s not the son of God of the Christian or Judeo-Christian faith. It’s a different God and I believe it is a very evil and wicked religion.”
If Palin agrees that Islam is an evil and wicked religion, then she should have the guts to say so in defending Franklin Graham ... versus lying about his words in the name of defending Christianity.
