SACRAMENTO - In a startling reversal, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose proposed budget cuts in services for the developmentally disabled had caused a statewide outcry, agreed Wednesday to abandon the plan.
Senator John Burton and Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson (D - moral giants), who drew the line along with disabled rights activists, forced the Terminator to back down. It's not a popular time to be a politician, but on this day, in this place, Burton and Wesson were moral giants. Please give them a call, and thank their staff for their great public service.
We won this round, and we'll win more. We don't have a choice.
