The Washington Post is hosting live on-line
chats with each of the Democratic presidential hopefuls, starting on Monday with Rep. Richard Gephardt. Times vary, so treat this as a bookmark.
I've attended a number of these on-line events. I don't find them particularly useful, they are slow, cumbersome affairs, not the best use of the technology. Still, this may be the closest you ever get to one of the candidates, so this may be valuable for you. I'm a big believer in "retail politics," and like the caucus system, grassroots politics. The transcripts might be fun to look at later in the week.
While I'm not in love with the Post's on-line chats, they are part of the new paradigm we are building for the coming election, as the Web and the blogosphere become an important part of the way information is gathered and disseminated. We are still learning the contours and influence of the New Media. I'm curious about what your experiences have been with events like the Post's. What fora would you like to see built on the Internet?
