Looking at what happened in Madison this evening, and what is happening in Michigan, Idaho, and nationwide--wherever the hidden cabal of corporate masters of the GOP have minions in control, democracy is in question. The power of peaceable assembly, dissent, and the rights of the people are threatened by a particularly mean-spirited and authoritarian Republican onslaught. It is time to call this authoritarian and anti-democratic movement what it is: Neo-Nazism.
There is currently--in 2011!--a Congressional committee scapegoating American Muslims and labeling them as terrorists by virtue of their Constitutionally protected religious beliefs.
There is a tyrannical and oppressive majority in the People's House that has been installed there by secret agreements and unnamed corporations. That Republican majority has been extorting and threatening Americans incrementally over the entire session of Congress--we teeter on the abyss of debt default every few weeks as a means of political extortion.
The media has become largely propaganda that dissembles 24 hours a day, and manipulates the news to harm the greater good of the American people. As well, a declining white majority is preemptively acting to disenfranchise and marginalize the rights of a growing majority.
There is an organized attack on unions, public education, and government employees unseen since 1932. Their goal seems to be defunding the Democratic Party and installing one party government throughout the United States.
This is beyond such trivializations as Godwin's Law (which seems to have been invented to give neo-fascists cover). I think we need to confront this onslaught in stark and truthful terms. I'll just say it: America is facing an existential crisis and is in the throes of a Neo-Nazi movement that threatens our democratic existence.
