I did a search of Daily Kos and no one has mentioned a tragic obituary: Hazel Dickens has died. The world is a sadder place today.
I'll let her songs speak for themselves. She sang for women, workers, and the poor.
Hazel had a real old time voice, one that cut right to the bone. She sang a lot about what it meant to be a woman, unique for her time and culture.
And she sang about her home in West Virginia, where she lost friends and family to the coal mines.
I miss her already.
