I have known that Donald Trump is a buffoonish liar since the 1980's, and figured it out as a teenager who just liked to read newspapers.
In October, 1987 (about October 15) Trump announced that he had just purchased more than 5 percent of a retail company -- if memory serves me right, it was J.C. Penney. I read about it in the New York Times.
A few days later (October 19), the stock market crashed. Lots of people lost lots of money overnight. But then Trump stepped forward to proclaim that he hadn't been hurt at all, because he was so smart he had sold all his stocks before the crash.
I took that to my dad cause I was confused. And he laughed and laughed, and said something that resonated till this day: "Liars tell lies. Trump's a liar. The strange part is, a 15 year old caught it, and the New York Times didn't."
This story has come back to me in the last few days.
Over the years, I have seen Trump's buffoonery on parade time and again, and always talked about it with my friends. He sues anyone who criticizes him (go for it, Donald!) because he knows he can spend them into the ground. He proclaims secret knowledge of events. He decries everyone who points out that he has less than $1 billion (because that means, in constant dollars, he has actually LOST money that he inherited.)
Until now, the sideshow was just funny. Now, it's serious, and the time has come to destroy him.
Trump's obvious latest lie is "I sent investigators to Hawaii and you won't believe what they are turning up!" When I first heard that, I turned to my wife and said "He's finally done it. He has told the unrecoverable lie."
The reason, obviously, is that Obama proved years ago that he was born in Hawaii. There was nothing to find. This was typical Trump bluster of pretending he had access to some secret information because of his genius. What a fool.
Now, everywhere he goes, every time he speaks, this racist scum has to be put on the griddle. What did the investigators find? You put it out there. Clearly, what you said wasn't true. Did they lie to you? ARe you going to sue them?
Or, Mr. Trump, did you get up on national television and attack the president of the United States with a lie, simply out of racism?
I guarantee, having made a sport of watching this man, he will refuse to answer. And, if he is hit with it enough times, he will pay the price he should pay for using his megaphone to engage in an unAmerican attack on the Commander-in-Chief.
High profile racists need to pay the price. Let's make Trump the first.
