The "I demand killing account" diaries are simply so fucking annoying. They are at worst a grand distraction, at best footnotes.
Obama, as much as you may dislike his conciliatory ways with the Republicans just delivered the single most important scalp in the fight with Al Qaeda. In my estimation his decisive moment arrived and he took it. The operation could have gone very wrong just like with Carter back in the Iran hostage crisis.
He made the critical choice and deserves all the credit in the world for this coup. ( The soldiers obviously deserve as much recognition, even if the ID of the guys and girls is kept secret.)
Osama got his Viking burial. We don't need the details. We don't need leaks either. We just need to know that Obama did something that Bush was incapable of doing. We know that Osama Bin Laden sleeps with fishes. When we lok back in history at William the Conquerer and Harold Godwinson, we could speculate about the way Harold died (bravely) where he was buried ( at sea, at Waltham, Bosham etc) but all these things become mere detail. There's been an epoch making event where we know someone won and someone lost. So let's stop speculating about the details and focus on the more general effects this event will go on to cause.
How will Pakistan react to this killing?
Is terroristic Islamist ideology now shown to be a losing idea?
Is the Arab revolution the real change that has occurred in the last 15 years, and what can we do to help?
Does Obama now have leverage to wind down the war in Iraq/Afghanistan?
I really don't need a blow by blow account of the spec ops killings.
