Guess what is the new Fox News and Right Wing's outrage Du Jour : Rapper Common being invited by First Lady Michelle Obama's office to the White House on Wednesday night for a poetry reading. Fox News Clowns and Sarah Palin aren't pleased about it. And all of them don't even hide their racism anymore.
For Sean Hannity, by inviting Common at the White House, President Obama is "back to his radical roots". Seriously? I don't even know if I have to feel sorry for this asshole or laugh at him.
He went on to say that Common also attended Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church (Breaking news to Sean Hannity so did Oprah Winfrey and many others). Later he had some sort of Token black on to back up his theory on the Obamas suggesting that Common being invited to the White House is part of "Class And Ethnic ... Warfare". Listen for yourself.
In his next segment, Hannity had Karl Rove (Yeah Karl Rove, you know the Paragon of Vertu) on to discuss the matter. It was funny to see Karl Rove of all people referring to Common as "thug". They even tied this invitation to the killing of Osama Ben Laden saying it was a "slap into the nation's face" to invite Common performing at the White House. Straight face. I'm not kidding.
Of course Sarah Palin found a away to insert herself into the Fox News' manufactured faux controversy. She tweeted the link of a Daily Caller's article attacking the first lady Michelle Obama for the invitation:
First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she’s invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush.
Back in 2003, First Lady Laura Bush held a poetry evening, and she invited several poets to reprise the work of Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman. Although none of those poets had urged violence against a president, Bush canceled the event after left-of-center poets protested and threatened to disrupt the event.
Common responded to the controversy via his twitter page.
Where was their outrage when Bush invited Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh (well known racists) at the White House?
I guess President Barack Obama killing Osama Ben Laden made them lose their minds (ok they were already crazy)

Beck is also interjecting himself into the controversy by suggesting that Obama hates police officers. First Obama hated white people, now he hates police officers

Ding Ding : Just last years Fox News labeled Common as "positive", so what changed?
But roughly half-a-year ago, Fox News had a different tone about Common. In an October 2010 report for FoxNews.com, reporter Jason Robinson interviewed the "rap legend" and told him, "your music is very positive. And you're known as the conscious rapper. How important is that to you, and how important do you think that is to our kids?"
