Can anyone say momentum?
This is turning out to be a very bad, no good week for Republicans. And we have had a couple of those lately, but this one isn't even thanks to Paul Ryan. The Republican "War On Working People" like teachers gave us this win.
Chalk up another Democratic win this week: Alabama State Rep. Daniel Boman, who entered the legislature as a Republican in November, is switching parties to become a Democrat after he says the GOP went too far in attacking teachers in the state.
From the Tuscaloosa News:
Boman, a 36-year-old lawyer from Sulligent, said Wednesday's vote on a bill to change the state's tenure and fair dismissal laws for educators convinced him he was in the wrong party.
~snip~
At a press conference today, Boman said that the law was just one of many that went too far and eventually forced him out of his Republican home.
"During this current session I have seen this legislative body pass bills that I feel adversely affect what my people back home want, need, and deserve. ... I will never choose the Party over the people again," he said.

My favorite part of all this is that it is just one more example of sensible, non-wingnut citizens turning away from the far right anti-working class ideology of a GOP that serves only the rich.
More below the fold
This edition of GOP EPIC FAIL is brought to you by the word "Overreach" and the letters G, O and P.
Because GOP ideology clearly does NOT serve the best interests of working class people. That is becoming more and more apparent as the GOP doubles down on stupid and reaffirms it's relentless assault on teachers, MediCare, worker's rights, and everything else middle class. Oh, and their fetish for tax cuts for the rich. Oh we must protect our "job creators", but consumers and workers and future Medicare recipients can go fuck off.
I'm glad that Daniel Boman of Alabama agrees with us on that.
So suck on that, Republicans. I'm buying popcorn, because you clowns and your billionaire funded, far right leaning, Ayn Randian horseshit is starting to get really funny as it explodes in your faces.
Keep it up, Republicans! Don't stop now, please keep being as "Conservative" and radical as possible, or whatever that means!
My advice to the GOP (and I mean all ill intentions) is to keep doing what Rush says (Hint: Death Panels are Baaaack)!
But count me in with Alabama State Rep Daniel Boman. The GOP does NOT represent Main Street at all. I'm glad to have sensible people like Dan Boman on my side and not on the side of Wall Street.
I can't lie, Republican tears sustain me.
