OK, I'm admitting up front. This is nothing more than a plea for money.
Money for cancer research. Money for a cure for leukemia.
This is my niece as she looked in 2009:
In 2009 she was diagnosed with ALL leukemia.
Follow me below the Great Orange Squiggle for the pitch.
My sister, who rode with me when I did Bike the Drive, has been involved with Team In Training for a couple of years. Her first event was running the Chicago Marathon. Team in Training's mission is to raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society through participation in athletic events. I'll let her talk about it:
More than two years ago my niece, Victoria, was diagnosed with Leukemia; and she has been enduring chemotherapy treatment ever since. As you know, since she was diagnosed, I have been raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a participant in their Team In Training program. In 2009 I completed the Chicago Marathon and raised $4,000. In 2010, I completed the Indianapolis Mini Marathon and raised $2,000. In 2011, I'm at it again!
This summer, Victoria is scheduled to complete her last chemo treatment, so I decided to ramp up my game. I have committed to ride 100 miles in the Apple Cider Century Ride this September and raise at least $2,000 toward that goal. Here's the bonus. If I raise at least $3,000 in total, I'll also run in the Indianapolis half marathon with Team In Training in October.
I'm asking you to challenge me, and help the cause, by making a donation to my fundraising campaign.

Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Nearly 958,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support.
On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I greatly appreciate your generosity.
Thank you,
Cecelia Wagner
So how about it?
