Rep. Allen West
escapee of the liberals' 21st century plantation
Poor, poor Allen West. He's such a victim.
First, he was ruthlessly attacked by Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz on the floor of the House, when she criticized his support of the House Republicans' Cut, Cap and Balance "solution" to the debt ceiling. Which is why he sent his epic email in which he called her "the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the U.S. House of Representatives," told her to "shut the heck up," and closed with some serious fighting words:
You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!
Ouch!
But apparently, he realized just how harsh his words were, because he informed Huffington Post that he apologized to Rep. Not-a-Lady. He certainly wouldn't want anyone to think he's anti-woman, after all:
HuffPost:: They're probably going to say something about being anti-woman.
West: I've been married for 22 years, I have two daughters.
Well, that proves it. Obviously, you cannot be married for 22 years, have two daughters, and be anti-woman. Case closed on that one.
You can, however, be married—with two daughters—and be a big, fat liar:
Neither the DNC nor Wasserman Schultz’s office received an apology. Sure enough, West’s office clarified that people would have to be stupid to think he’d be so gracious. "Absolutely false," West's spokesperson Angela Sachitano said of West's own statement. "The Congressman is waiting on an apology from the Congresswoman."
See? He's the victim here. And he's taking his sob story on the road, in defense of minorities and women:
"The thing that really most aggravates me is that there is this double standard, in that the people on the hard left can continue to attack conservatives and especially minority conservatives, and female conservatives," said West. "But yet when all of a sudden you stand up and you say that you will not tolerate this anymore, then they claim to be a victim -- which I find just absolutely laughable."
Later in the discussion with Levin, West further elaborated on the theme.
"Well the thing is when you look at myself, or even think about what Jon Stewart said about Herman Cain -- you know, the remark about how he doesn't want to read -- people who are black conservatives," said West, referring to Stewart's jokes about Cain's declaration that he would only allow Congressional bills to be up to three pages in length (Cain later said that this was an exaggeration, not an "absolute promise.)
"I grew up in the inner city, strong values, came from a strong military family and background," West continues. "What we do is we totally invalidate the liberal social welfare policies and programs. And you know, I'm the threat because I'm the guy that got off their 21st-century plantation, and they cannot afford to have a strong voice such as mine out there, reverberating and resonating across this country."
And that was just yesterday. Today, he continued on his reverberating, resonating victim tour at—big surprise—Fox Business:
Finally, I think that I do have the right to stand up and defend my honor and make sure that this type of activity does cease. So I sent her a private email, she decided to make it public by releasing it to the news media. [...]
There're certain ways that we speak in the military, and I guess I have not learned the DC insider talk that maybe some of these people are used to. Don't poke me in the chest, that's the bottom line to that exchange.
So when he called Rep. Not-a-Lady "the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the U.S. House of Representatives," that was just military talk for being "steadfast and loyal" because he's not yet fluent in DC insiderese. After all, he just barely escaped the liberals' 21st century plantation.
And that's why we should all be grateful that there's one man with the courage to send nasty emails speak truth to power on behalf of the nation's most oppressed victims: conservative women and minorities—and especially Herman Cain.
