Here's my video for the 11PM NHC advisory. It's a little more disjointed than the last one...I'm running on no food since early this morning (I did eat, but I hadn't when I made this video so I was a little loopy), and exhaustion from being in class all day and walking around in 100 degree heat, so I apologize for the slight sloppiness and absent-mindedness.
I started recording the video at 10:19PM Central Time. In chronological order, I cover Irene on the satellite, the forecast track, Irene on radar (including some tornado warnings), Irene's wind field, watches/warnings, a more detailed Google Earth track of Irene, and the forecast storm surges.
I will have small updates on my Facebook page as the night and weekend goes on. I'm planning on liveblogging the landfall tomorrow with help from anyone who wants to help. I have a class for a few hours in the middle of the afternoon tomorrow, so that'll throw a wrench in it.
Information and my video from earlier is posted in the old diary. I'm posting this new diary because people have asked for a new update (and, presumably, haven't refreshed the diary or checked to see that I updated it).
Stay safe. If I remember correctly, there's going to be a Hurricane Irene check-in diary tomorrow so we know if you're in harm's way (in case you can't get to a computer for a while), so you'll want to check that out.
Fri Aug 26, 2011 at 10:25 PM PT: New tornado watch in effect for southern Delmarva Peninsula, some of eastern VA (including Norfolk and VA Beach), and parts of northeastern NC. The watch is in effect until 11 AM. Keep in mind that these tornadoes will spin up very quickly, possibly forming and dissipating in just a few minutes. There are already reports of damage and injuries due to tornadoes, so if you're in these areas, keep extra alert for tornado warnings.
