The week-long Hyatt strike that began last Thursday ends tonight. In Chicago, Christian, Jewish and Muslim clergy held a prayer service and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka addressed picketers:
“What do you get in return for it? They make you kneel on your knees shining glass until you have to have an operation. They won’t give you tools like long handled brooms so you don’t have bend over and break your back. They want you to work harder and faster and they don’t want to listen to a word you have to say about how to make this place a bigger success.”
Unite Here, Fem 2.0, and two Hyatt workers held a Tweet chat at #unionwomen, highlighting the experiences of women in the hotel industry and at Hyatt in particular.
The Hyatt workers are going back to work, but the boycott of selected Hyatt hotels continues.
