Herman Cain (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)
How bad has Herman Cain's day been?
- Cain campaign releases a statement blaming the liberal media for spreading baseless rumors:
... are now casting aspersions on his character and spreading rumors that never stood up to the facts.
- Cain claims that:
... I recused myself and allowed my general counsel and my Human Resource officer to deal with the situation.
- The head of Human Resources at the time Cain was the head of the National Restaurant Association on having any recollection of a sexual harassment complaint against Cain:
"No, none," she said.
- Cain says he is completely unaware of any payment made to the women who accused him of sexual harassment:
If the Restaurant Association did a settlement I wasn’t even aware of it and I hope it wasn’t for much because nothing happened.
- Cain acknowledges that there was a payment made and that he discussed it with his general counsel, although:
I don't remember a number.
- Judy Woodruff asks Herman Cain if he invited one of the women who charged him with sexual harassment to a hotel room:
I have no recollection of that.
- Cain tells Woodruff that sexual harassment is:
... in the eye of the person who thinks that maybe I crossed the line.
Somewhere, Mitt Romney is smiling.
