Poor soon to be recalled Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He can't go anywhere without being met by protestors.
This morning he was in Chicago speechifying at Chicago's Union League Club when he got heckled (again). The Union League Club doesn't have a thing in common with real unions. It's a typical old rich boys club.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, facing a union effort to recall him from office, said today he will use Illinois’ tax increase and continued deficit as a defense for actions that included eliminating most collective bargaining rights for public workers.
He'll do anything to hide his continuing peel offs from public employees, the poor and vulnerable in Wisconsin to provide fantastic tax breaks to the monied interests and promote his privatization agenda. Right now, he's trying to sell the "It's Working" BS on the people of Wisconsin as detailed by PvtJarHead here. The ads, funded by his monied interests masters have just started to play across the state in advance of the recall petitions that will start November 15.
About 50 people who purchased tickets to the breakfast began chanting minutes into Walker’s remarks, reciting slogans such as “Union busting. It’s disgusting.” And “We are the 99 percent.” They also criticized Walker for being allowed free speech rights while blaming Mayor Rahm Emanuel for Chicago police arrests of 300 protesters who refused to leave Grant Park after an 11 p.m. curfew.
And, of course, there were also protestors marching outside the event in addition to those attending the speech.
Walker continues to lie that his budget, which stripped bargaining rights from every public employee in Wisconsin and is costing state workers about $250 per month (minimally) in increased benefit costs, took nearly a billion dollars out of Wisconsin schools, reduced state revenue sharing (while prohibiting cities and counties from raising taxes to compensate), and is devastating to Medicaid and Badger Care, continuing to lie that his measures are the best thing that ever happened to Wisconsin.
His current plans to cling to his job involves trashing Illinois for raising taxes to mitigate their budget deficit.
Everywhere he goes in Wisconsin he's met by protestors. It's great to see that even when he fundraises outside the state he gets no rest from the people.
Thank you, Occupy Chicago, for giving our awful Governor a warm welcome.
Update: Another Warm Welcome Needed Edition: Scott Walker will be giving the keynote address November 12 at a leadership conference sponsored by the RW Young Americas Foundation which is being held at the Reagan Ranch. FitzWalkerKochStan Republican Congresscritter Sean Duffy is also scheduled to speak. Hopefully, they'll get a well deserved "warm welcome" there, too.
Update #2: Walkers (BS) Response Edition: His Imperialness, Scott Walker, has spoken on the incident:
"No matter how loud you shout," Walker said, "the reforms work."
First, dude, these weren't "reforms". The word "reform" means that something is made better. The GOP has bastardized it into a code word for "destroy" or "eliminate". If he's referring to the monied elite, yes, they're much better off. Not so much for the 99%.
Update #3: H/T to Hyde Park Johnny Edition: Hyde Park Johnny has posted a comment here containing an even better video than you will find in my first link. Thanks for that.
