Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer can't even explain why she impeached redistricting commissioner

On Wednesday, in the midst of orchestrating the ouster of Colleen Mathis, the independent chair of Arizona's redistricting commission, GOP Gov. Jan Brewer was actually in New York City, busy promoting her new book. On Thursday, she found time to do Alan Colmes' radio show, and couldn't even explain her own actions. ThinkProgress nabbed the transcript:

COLMES: What did Colleen do that was inappropriate, Colleen Mathis?

BREWER: Well she acted, uh, inappropriately. Well it was very, pretty much obvious that she in communications, and doing things, uh, not in the public, and the people of Arizona deserve that –

COLMES: You mean she was doing things secretly? Like what?

BREWER: They just simply need to operate in a lawful and open fashion…

COLMES: I’m trying to understand what she did. What are you accusing her of having done?

BREWER: Well she wasn’t operating in the proper manner.

The transcript actually doesn't do justice to how brutally pathetic Brewer sounds in the interview—if anything, it almost makes her seem articulate. At one point, Brewer even says she wishes she had in front of her the letter she sent to the commission (written by her lawyers no doubt) so that she could recite her ridiculous list of charges for Colmes's benefit—charges she can't even express in words. If Brewer's claims had any merit, she'd be able to explain them with ease. The fact that she can't says volumes about how phony they are.
