United Wisconsin has collected more than 50,000 signatures to recall Scott Walker in the first 48 hours of the petition drive, spokesperson Meagan Mahaffey has confirmed to Daily Kos.
Further, these numbers only reflect the signatures that have been turned in by last night. With more than 20,000 volunteers downloading petitions themselves, and with today being another intense day of canvassing, tens of thousands more signatures are likely floating around.
To force a recall election, 540,208 signatures are required. This means the recall campaign is likely over 10 percent of its signature goal with room to spare and more than 57 days remaining.
The recall of Scott Walker is off to a flying start. Please, contribute $6 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, which is coordinating the recall effort.
