Today Rush Limbaugh lost the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington as advertisers, but gained a couple that present an interesting juxtaposition to the Girl Scouts, for sure.
SeekingArrangement.com, a company that bills itself “the world’s largest sugar daddy and sugar baby dating website,” announced its decision to start advertising on Limbaugh’s show late Tuesday, while the CEO of Ashley Madison, an online dating service website, said on CNN Wednesday morning that he is “willing to step into the void left by other advertisers.”
Ashley Madison isn't just any dating service, by the way; it's a service for
people who want to cheat on their partners. Here's how Noel Biderman, the CEO of the company, explained his decision to jump
on to Limbaugh's sinking ship.
“Listen, blue and red states, people cheat in both of them,” Biderman said. “Republican, democrat, men, women — everybody is prone to having an affair. So the bottom line is, my audience sits with his audience and I’m happy to advertise to them.”
Maybe these offers are why Limbaugh insists
he's not being hurt by the loss of more than
four dozen, and counting, advertisers. Limbaugh compares it to "losing a couple of french fries in the container when it's delivered to you at the drive-thru."
One of the french fries he lost was PageOne ad agency in Youngstown, Ohio, which is pulling all of its clients' ads in the Cleveland, Akron/Canton, Youngstown/Warren, and Pittsburgh media markets.
In a letter to agency clients, [agency president Robert C.] Roach said "No woman, including Ms. [Sandra] Fluke, should ever be subject to the type of insults and vitriol broadcast during 'The Rush Limbaugh Show' last week, and no individual or business should wish to be associated with this type of irresponsible behavior."
And then there's
this
Fact: Of the 69 ads that ran on Rush Limbaugh on WABC (a big station), 39 of them were unpaid public service announcements.

confirms, and adds that many of the others "have already stated that they have asked to have their ads excluded from Limbaugh's show," but their requests haven't yet taken effect. So Limbaugh is quickly being reduced to free public service announcements and dubious dating sites. Excellent. For now.
Many of the advertisers have said that they're just suspending their ads, meaning that this time could be like all the other times Limbaugh has created a huge stink that eventually blows over, with his advertisers coming back. Don't let that happen this time.
