Except for my mistakes, I never made any mistakes!
(
Gage Skidmore)
Trigger warning for David Brody. And Michele Bachmann. And general WTFness:
Brody: You ran pretty much an impeccable campaign, in terms of a mistake-free campaign.
Bachmann: Thank you, it really was.
Brody: It pretty much was.
Bachmann: It really was, we were extremely careful, and we were almost mistake free, but for those two points, Elvis Presley’s birthday and John Wayne’s birthplace. I’ve apologized, and we moved beyond.
Um, yeah. Other than celebrating Elvis' birthday on the anniversary of his death, and
boasting about sharing "the spirit" of serial killer John Wayne Gacy, Michele's campaign was pretty much perfect.
This isn't the first time Bachmann has patted herself on the back for being mistake free. In November, she proclaimed, "I haven’t had a gaffe or something that I've done that has caused me to fall in the polls." But as Jed Lewison pointed out, this came one day after she insisted that a seven-foot tall doctor told her all medical treatment had to be pre-approved by the IRS, thanks to Obamacare.
And of course, no one can forget her story that the HPV vaccine causes instant retardation, which she tried to excuse by explaining that she "wasn't attesting to anything" when she told the story.
Or that time her campaign staff sent an email slamming Newt Gingrich, only to send an email from the same email address denying that the slam came from the Bachmann camp.
But those weren't gaffes or mistakes. She totally meant to do that!
So except for Elvis and the serial killer snafu, she was totally on track for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the show?
