Did Newark Mayor, Cory Booker, simply make a "gaffe" when he stridently defended Mitt Romney's "good work" at Bain Capital? Was this just a "slip of the tongue" or was it actually a true and revealing statement about who Cory Booker is and what he really believes?
Booker has been worshiped by the Mainstream Corporate Media since he came on the scene. But, although he claims to be a "Democrat", he's back Ultra-Conservative governor, Chris Christie on almost all issues; and they're good, close friends too.
Booker said he was "nauseated" by the "unfair attacks" on private equity, Wall Street, Mitt Romney and Bain Capital. Now, he's pathetically trying to "walk it back", as if he had a sterling, perfect "liberal" record prior to this.
In reality, Cory Booker's comments revealed who he REALLY is. And that's something that the corporate media and too many pundits are missing.
On May 4, Cory Booker gave a rousing, anti-public schools, anti-union speech at an "Education Reform" in Jersey City, sponsored by ALEC and the Koch Brothers.
The other main speakers at this conference were Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal and some pundit from Fox "News". Most accounts say that Cory Booker's speech was even more right-wing and extremist than those delivered by the two Republican governors. The ultra-conservative audience loved it and were brought to their feet, whooping and yelling their approval. http://www.afcpolicysummit.com
This speech was just "the tip of the iceberg" for Cory Booker when it comes to public education. Booker is doing the bidding of private, for-profit firms and Wall Street, helping them with their long-term plans to eliminate free, universal public schools.
Booker is a good friend and political ally of Chris Christie. They agree on almost everything, particularly on the need to "privatize" education. This "funny" video, produced by Christie's shills, shows the "good buddies" Booker and Christy, "joking" around, obviously on the same page, personally and politically. (Watch only if you can stomach it. It's truly repulsive.) http://www.youtube.com/...
The MOST revealing part is near the video's end when Booker is on the phone with "Mitt Romney", as Romney tries to talk him into joining his campaign. Booker gushes praise on Romney and tells him how "persuasive" his arguments are. It's clear that Booker is very, very comfortable with these 1% Wall Street types that have funded his career from the very beginning.
And now, Booker has come to the defense of Mitt Romney and specifically, Romney's time at Bain Capital, strongly defending what he did at the job-destroying company. It's truly vile. But it reveals something about Cory Booker. As Josh Marshall from TPM points out regarding Booker's pro-Romney, pro-Bain comments, “This was not a mistake. This was not a gaffe. This was not something that Cory Booker got backed into by David Gregory on ‘Meet The Press’. Throughout his career, Booker has relied heavily on the financial sector and Wall Street in particular." http://video.msnbc.msn.com/...
Cory Booker was protecting his friends, the guys he went to Stanford and Yale with, who now work as Hedge Fund Operators, making billions annually. Booker wants to keep in good with them. They are much more important than the other 99% of us. It's really not that tough to understand. http://www.youtube.com/...
Now, with his latest comments, where his "progressive" mask obviously slipped off, Booker's entire career has been exposed.
Will we sit back and allow Cory Booker to get his career back on track, worm his way into higher offices, and then "pay back" his billionaire backers with policies that concentrate even MORE wealth into his hands? Or will we know see who Booker is and make sure he NEVER gets elected to anything again?
