Just before the only vice-presidential debate of the 2012 campaign, Paul Ryan withdrew his endorsement of Republican Wisconsin State Assemblyman Roger Rivard after Rivard received a considerable amount of criticism over his remark that "some girls rape easy".
However, I cannot allow Ryan to walk back his endorsement of Rivard, since Ryan himself has made a controversial remark about rape, specifically, in this interview right after Todd Akin's now-infamous "legitimate rape" comments ignited a national political firestorm:
In that interview, which has received virtually no attention whatsoever from the mainstream media, Paul Ryan dismissed rape as just another form of conception, and defended his staunch anti-choice position on reproductive rights issues.
I wrote about Ryan's own views on rape at my blog Blue Downstate a while back, and I simply cannot allow Ryan to walk back his endorsement of Rivard given the fact that Ryan himself believes that rape victims who get pregnant should be forced to carry that child to term.
