The quilters of the DK Quilt Guild are doing it again! Working together, the guild has assembled the many quilt blocks needed to produce not one, but two fabulous quilts to be auctioned for the benefit of causes dear to the ♥ hearts ♥ of many kossacks.
DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too!
Last year, the Guilt guild members created this beautiful quilt, aptly named "Better Together" which was donated and auctioned to support the efforts of
NetRoots for the Troops.

This year the quilters decided on two projects; they would continue to support NFTT and have added a quilt and auction to benefit Okiciyap Food Pantry and Childrens Center.
To support the quilters, we have formed a new group, Daily Kos Quilt Guild Auction Alliance Group, whose main duty is to promote and coordinate the auctions. Anyone is welcome to join, and members will receive group mails during auctions to keep them up to date on scheduled diaries and current bids. To join the group leave a comment in this diary or send a Kosmail message to weck or glorificus

Our first project will be the Okiciyap Quilt Auction, which we hope to complete in March and April 2013.
OKICIYAP QUILT: Here is the one for Okiciyap, which works to help residents of the Isabel Community on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. The quilt is made of cotton fabrics, and is approximately 51" x 65". Professional quilter BeadLady is finishing it with custom quilting.

The second planned auction will be for the NFTT Quilt, tentatively scheduled for May and June 2013
NFTT QUILT: This is the one for Netroots for the Troops. The organization raises money for the assembly, mailing and delivery of Care Packages to American military in war zones and to provide assistance to military families in the United States. The quilt is made of cotton fabrics, and is approximately 51" x 65". Professional quilter BeadLady is finishing it with custom quilting.

Members of the
Okiciyap (we help) Group and members of the
DK Quilt Guild will be writing diaries to describe the work we have been doing, supporting the people of the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota, and creating beautiful quilt blocks to build into a piece of fiber art that anyone would be proud to have in their home.
We ask that you share our mission and help us to promote this cross-community project.
Join the new group, mention the auction in comments, comment in and rec the diaries when they begin to appear, show your quilt-loving friends the pictures and encourage them to bid or you could even offer to write a diary! All of these efforts will help get the word out about the quilt auctions, and insure a big success.
A special thanks to those DK Quilt Guild members who have already donated their time, love and materials to create the two quilts. I am thrilled to be able to show what you have done to everyone at DailyKos. ♥ ♥ ♥ weck
