5 wheelchair quilts by Sara R and winglion
Hello everybody -- it's time for a status update on the Palo Alto, VA wheelchair quilts.
The goal is to have 35 quilts, 36" x 60", to deliver to the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the Palo Alto VA Hospital at the time of Netroots Nation (June). This will assure that every patient in that unit will get a quilt from us. We plan to include a teddy bear with each quilt, too -- but more on that later.
So far, we have 12 quilts, in a delightful range of colors and styles. Ann and I have made five, pictured above.
Mama Morgaine's quilts
Mama Morgaine sent three -- one is her trademark jeans charm style, one a bright strip pieced style set to create diamonds, and one in strips of purple, green, and cream. They are all different and each delightful.
Wheelchair quilt by weck
Weck sent a warm and poofy quilt in shades of brown, gray, and cream. To hold it is to want to hug it.
Chinton's quilt
Chinton sent one in strips of batik, in shades of earth and sea. It has a pretty pieced back, too! Elegant!
BeadLady's quilts
BeadLady sent two lap quilts, one in lavenders, one in neon brights. They are beautifully quilted! Love her work!
These people have also volunteered to make quilts for this project:
glorificus
kitchen table activist
jlms qkw
Carol in San Antonio
princesspat
Pam from Calif
angelajean
Embee

geordie
If we get at least one quilt each from these, we will have 23, about a dozen away from our goal.
If you are in the Portland, OR area and would like to come to a sewing bee at my house to make some more of these, we plan to meet two weeks from today at noon. Let me know if you can come! We'll do a pot luck lunch and see what we can accomplish. Ann and I will love to see you.
A status on the two quilts for auction, one for NFTT and one for Okiciyap, was written by weck last week, in case you missed it.
Welcome -- and please share what you are working on!
