Saturday!

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

If it doesn't rain today, I'll be mowing again.

And if it's warm enough, I'll be sorting out the "downstairs" room (formerly garage, but not insulated, so not habitable, I used it as a library until the kids began using it as a storage room, then I used it as a storage room, and now it's a muddle).

And then I have to spend time catching up on the administrative side of OctopodiCon and prep for MedFair and the Water Paws booth we do there.

If it rains and is cold, I'll just do administrative stuff for OctopodiCon.

Oh,, and laundry and dishes because those have to be done no matter what.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

The t-shirts still haven't been put away from Thursday morning, and I emptied half the dishwasher. I think I'll change the dishwasher before bed.  I have a LA Kossacks event to manage tomorrow, so sleep is a good idea.

too.  The whole panhandle area shows up red.

This storm will probably go south of us again, a few flakes, but none of the heavy wet stuff the east coast cities are expecting.

  •  Maybe I should change my mopping day... (3+ / 0-)

so it stops raining all weekend. Seriously, I scheduled mopping day (the day all our floors get mopped whether they need it or not) for Saturday. Now every Saturday it rains so I have to mop multiple times. I picked Saturday because it's the day when fewer other things are scheduled. It's not a school day so I don't have to save the energy for lessons. I usually do the bulk of the school week planning on Sundays.
And no, Saturdays aren't the only day I mop, but that's when I move everything and sweep and mop under and behind. My floors look so nice right now.. until the dogs have to go out again LOL.

the loss of our beloved Boston Terrier, Elmo. We finally had to take him in to be euthanized yesterday afternoon.

Our house seems so empty. We miss him terribly, yet there is relief, too. Relief that he is no longer uncomfortable, and maybe in pain. Relief from the stress that came from what had become our daily struggle to get him to eat something.

He would have been 15 this June. He was the best dog ever.

He'll always keep your heart full.  I'm sure he knows he was loved.

We've got an aging pup here, who is so sweet (a cocker rescue probably abt 15 to 16), but he is getting to be very expensive, with mouth surgery to keep a pre-cancerous area at bay.  Last summer it was $800.   (sigh......)

      Sending cyber-tissues.......
