Even that congressional page can't believe what Don Young said.
Theater.
Rep. Don Young's (R-AK) casual characterization of migrant workers as "wetbacks" came at a time when the Republican Party is trying desperately to improve its beleaguered image among minority communities, prompting a number of individuals on the right to condemn the longtime Alaska congressman.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn got the vapors. House Speaker John Boehner and Sen. John McCain called for an immediate apology (too late, Young apologized already). RNC Chair Reince Priebus laughably claimed that Young's words didn't represent the Republican Party counter to all evidence.
It's kinda cute of them to act shocked, when this is what they hear and say behind closed doors every day. Young's problem with his party today is that he got caught saying this shit on camera, not that he said it.
Times have changed. They can't say what they think anymore. "Rebranding," you know?
