So, the state and local action group was founded at the inception of DK4. The DK4 platform was actually ideal to do a new group.

We have ~200 people subscribed to the group and I think we could do better. I think, unlike 2009/10 when DK4 first went up (gawd, has it been that long?) the ravaging effects of what the GOP is doing at the state level is more obvious (and deserves more attention) than perhaps we were willing to give back in the halcyon, post-2008, federal-house-and-senate-majority days.

I've been posting and republishing state and local based stories as much as I can but I can't keep up and I'm not here all the time anymore (I'm working on a state and local politics oriented business I'll introduce at DKos later this spring).

So I need help. I need some other admins! Let's get more state and local politics action going on here on Daily Kos. And if you aren't following Meteor Blades new weekly (Saturdays) state blog news roundup...well, hop to it!

If you're a state or local blogger or blog about progressive issues and would like to be an admin let me know. Send me a request. If you're a kossack that cares about this stuff and has the time to check into the queue every now and again to publish or republish stories, please send me a request.

Please be patient with me. That messaging queue is about the only thing I HATE about DK4. But I will check in multiple times and approve anyone who asks. All I ask is that you be on the lookout for state and local oriented posts and republish them. If you want to write, that's fine with me.

5:21 AM PT: If you're already a member, let me know in comments you want to be an admin and I'll change the status from contributor to admin.

You must add at least one tag to this diary before publishing it.

Add keywords that describe this diary. Separate multiple keywords with commas.
Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

  •  I think what you want are "Editiors" (4+ / 0-)

and not Administrators.  All the members are contributors which basically means that they can do nothing.  They cannot publish their own work through the group, republish other diaries to the group or read group messages.  An Editor can do all those things.  Administrators can do all the Editors can plus they have the ability to add and remove members and make changes to the group's avatar, etc.  So you should take care in adding Administrators.  That said, you are the only Administrator and you should have at least one more - possibly two or three more.

Not trying to sound bossy  or know-it-all, but having had a little experience with this I thought it best to pass it on to you to prevent future problems.

I really urge you to make someone else an administrator (or two or three), a few months back I joined Hunger in America and wrote a couple of pieces for the group right away.  The Group Owner and sole Administrator was Melanie in IA and she made me an Administrator to help her out.  Several weeks later Melanie and her husband both were banned and she was automatically removed from the group.  Had I (or someone else) not been an Administrator too then the group would have been dead in the water.  Not that I think you would ever be banned, mdmslle, but some other emergency could require someone else to take the reins for a while and having that sorted out ahead of time would be a good idea.

All that said...I'd be happy to be an editor to publish to the group on the rare occasion I have time to write a local piece and I'd be happy to republish other diaries to the group as well.

a contributor. If you want I can make you an editor or admin. Editors can write and publish, republish and read group messages. Admins can add other editors and a few other things.

Let me know. I appreciate your support!

an editor for now. This means you can post diaries to the group, approve other diaries in the queue that are posted to the group and if you happen to see or find a diary on DKos that is state or local oriented you can republish to the group as well.

Thanks for your willingness to help. I really feel strongly about getting active with state politics. The GOP is killing us and in many ways making a mockery out of our country.

Did you see that proposal in NC this past week that would've established a state religion? Seriously, these people are not only out of control. They're dangerous. It's time to get serious about this stuff.
