Beohner says bill is just like "court proceeding."
Read a
direct quote from John Boehner about the House Republican bill to "prioritize" what the government can do with its money should Republicans decide to default on the debt:
“Listen,” he said. “Those who have loaned us money, like in any proceeding, if you will, court proceeding, the bondholders usually get paid first. Same thing here.”
The only court proceeding in which such a thing occurs is bankruptcy. So that can only mean that Boehner's bill is a declaration of bankruptcy. That's exactly what Democrats need to begin calling the
GOP bill likely to pass the House. A
bankruptcy bill.
The administration's wordy statement about the bill says the same thing, but they need to just cut to the chase and call a spade a spade. Boehner has said that his bill is just like a bankruptcy court proceeding, so Democrats saying so shouldn't be too difficult.
