This is a sad time for the progressosphere--our precious logic crystals are depleting rapidly and our independent thinking capacity is becoming compromised.
More after the swirling elegant orange vortex....
So here's the problem--NOBODY is talking about why the IRS, erroneously or not, might target teabagger groups. Yes, there has been some mention among the saner heads at MSNBC about the likelihood of excessive political action by 501(c)4 groups.
But what hasn't gotten the exposure it deserves is the basic notion that there was ample justification to scrutinize these groups because of the documented concealment of the identities of the key players and supporters of these groups. We have seen repeatedly that a lot of the Teabagger movement is astroturfing--big political donors funding so-called grass roots groups. Moreover, they absolutely WERE political action groups posing as "social welfare" groups. The whole effort was rife with duplicity and concealment.
The IRS had every reason to target groups with these key words in their names or applications. These groups and their fellow travellers have repeatedly demonstrated behavior that make this scrutiny legitimate.
I'm so sick of the Left rolling over and begging "please, don't hurt me". Fight back! Come out swinging!
These groups deserved heightened scrutiny. But nobody is saying so.
I'm so tired of this.
