Historical Society Museum of Poulsbo (Photo Diary)

Small town historical society museums face many problems ranging from lack of funding, to lack of space, to lack of understanding about how to present the history of their community. Too often, small town museums are simply a collection of old “stuff” which is felt to be historical because it is old. The Poulsbo, Washington Historical Society Museum occupies a single room in the community’s relative new city hall building. While there is not a lot of room, what is displayed has tags explaining what it is. They have also attempted to group the material into useful historical groupings. Coupled with an enthusiastic volunteer staff, this is not a bad little museum. Photos from the museum’s displays are shown below.
